Dates: May 16 to May 30, 2025

Welcome to the Open Enrollment Period for health benefits and flexible spending accounts (FSA) at Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø! This webpage is designed to provide eligible Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø employees with easy access to all essential information and resources to make your enrollment a success.

If you want to enroll in a Medical or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for the next plan year, you MUST re-enroll during Open Enrollment. FSAs do not automatically renew!

No action is required if you:
  • Have no health plan-related changes
  • Are not enrolling in an FSA, or
  • Do not plan to participate in Premium Rewards.

Open Enrollment Deadline

Cardinal Employee Self Service

The Cardinal Human Capital Management System (HCM) has an Employee Self Service feature, allowing you to make changes to your health benefits and FSA online.

  • To Access your Cardinal Employee ID

    • Go toÌý
    • Go to Leo Online News and Secure Area
    • Click the key icon to enter secure area
    • Put in your Midas ID and Password
    • Complete the push notification
    • Select Personal Information
    • Select View University and MIDAS Identification Numbers
  • Login toÌý
  • Click on Cardinal Human Capital Management (HCM)
  • Select Benefits Details
  • Select Benefits Enrollment and follow theÌýÌý(available May 16-30)
  • In Cardinal Employee Self Service, you may review your current health benefits record, update your personal information, and enroll or make changes to your health plan and/or membership. You may also enroll in one or both FSAs. Enroll onlineÌýbeginning May 16Ìýbut no later thanÌýMay 30 at 11:59 p.m.
  • If you do not have online access, then complete the fillableÌýEnrollment Form for Employees, and return to the Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø Benefits Team, first floor of Spong Hall,Ìýno later than May 30th. TheÌýfillable health coverage formÌýmay also be sent by fax to 757-683-3064, or by email toÌýbenefits@odu.edu

Dependent Eligibility

If you are electing dependent coverage for the first time, please review and forward the required supporting document(s) to benefits@odu.edu.

Ask ALEX for Advice

Evaluate and compare health plan options with ALEX, your online benefits counselor! ALEX will use your input to let you know how the different health insurance plans work for you. VisitÌý.

Earn Premium Rewards

Premium rewards are reductions in health plan premiums for participants in the COVA Care and COVA HealthAware plans who complete a health assessment.Ìý An employee and/or their enrolled spouse can reduce the premium by $204 annually ($17/month) or $408 annually ($34/month) for both employee and enrolled spouse if they fulfill the requirements to earn a premium reward. Refer to page 12 in the for more details.Ìý

Flexible Spending Accounts

As a reminder youÌýmustÌýre-enrollÌýeach year to continue participating in flexible spending accounts.ÌýThe maximum Health FSA contribution is up to $3,300/plan year.ÌýThe maximum Dependent Care FSA is up to $5,000/plan year, depending on your tax filing status.

On-Site Cardinal Workshops

Benefits Representatives will be available to help with Cardinal during open computer lab sessions available on the following dates and times. On May 19th and May 27th, workshops will be held at theÌýBrickell Library (740 W. Olney Road). On May 20th (Room 1013B)Ìý²¹²Ô»å May 28th (Room 1013A), workshops will be held in Batten Arts & Letters (BAL).Ìý
