The Naval Station Norfolk (NSN) is one of America's largest and most important military installations. Situated on more than 4,000 acres along one of the world's greatest natural harbors, the station is home to U.S. Navy warships, submarines, aircraft carriers, naval air squadrons, helicopters and the Defense Department's busiest supply centers. How the NSN came into being--from humble beginnings as a marsh to its strategic role in modern military operations--is a fascinating story, and coming here to tell it is the Naval Station's commander.
Captain Robert E. Clark, the commander of NSN will speak at Â鶹¹ÙÍø as part of the Friends of the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Libraries lecture series. Join him Thursday, Mar. 19 at 7:15 pm in the Learning Commons @ Perry Library as he discusses Naval Station Norfolk: A Historical Perspective. It's a story that touches on the area's maritime heritage--and the marriage of the Navy and Hampton Roads.

This evening, co-sponsored by the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Libraries, is part of a series celebrating the integral role of the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Libraries to students, faculty, staff, and the community by showcasing the interests and scholarship of Â鶹¹ÙÍø faculty members and alumni.
