ESPN anchor and Â鶹¹ÙÍø alum Jay Harris '87 will take over the University's Instagram stories from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 8.

Harris, who plans to show a day in the life as an alum of Â鶹¹ÙÍø and possibly answer questions, graduated with a bachelor's degree in speech communication. He credits Old Dominion for his broadcasting success.

"I think to be a good broadcaster and a good journalist you need a certain amount of confidence," he said in a Monarch Magazine article in 2017. "You put yourself out there to be criticized, for your work to be criticized. My Â鶹¹ÙÍø experience gave me that confidence because I was able to really get involved in campus student leadership organizations. Â鶹¹ÙÍø allowed me to grow up."

He also serves on the Board of Visitors and aims to make sure "Â鶹¹ÙÍø is seen as a leading institution, not only in the state, but in the country. We were always like the little engine that could. Instead, people should think of Â鶹¹ÙÍø as the world-class university that it is."
