The middle school science education concentration in the Ocean & Earth Sciences B.S. degree is designed for students interested in teaching science in middle school. This program meets the requirements for teacher licensure in Virginia as established by the Virginia Board of Education licensure regulations. Those who complete the program will leave with their degree and their teaching license.

Students must first declare the middle school science major within the Ocean and Earth Sciences department with the Middle School Science Program Director.

All students must apply for and be admitted into the approved teacher preparation program.

Students must meet the required criteria for admission by passing the Virginia Board of Education prescribed assessments and earn the minimum required grade point averages (GPA) of 2.75.
